A Handful of Dates


This story starts with the narrator talking about his gradfather. The narrator believes that his grandfather is pure like a river. the narrator follows and does what his grandfather tell him to do. His grandfather is everything to him. He also tells that his grandfather has no enemies and walks with his head held high and with confident. His grandfather is a role model to him. the narrator gets confused as the story goes on when he asks his grandfather about Masood, who is the narrator's neighbour. his grandfather tell him that Masood has been owning a lot of money and each time ge get married he sells me a few feddans. The narrator was confused about why his grandfather showed a rude attitude towards Masood. His grandfather keeps talking about Masood in a bad manner. Later on, Masood comes up to the door and asks them if they would like to join him in harvesting the dates. The narrator notice that his grandfather is selfish when he sees his grandfather going to harvest Masood's dates. Masood still politely telling others to not cut the heart of the palm tree. The narrator feels pity for Masood. The narrator feels angry about his grandfather. Later while crossing the river the narrator spits all the dates into the river from his mouth.

A Television Drama


The story of the Carolee Mitchell shows the fright and fear associated with human minds. . There were many police cars and reporters in front of her house. She looked through the window to see what was happening. She then heard the radio saying that the policeman was in operating room having a bullet being removed from his right lung. After, her husband arrived home all worried and asked if she was alright. She said she was fine and not frightened at all. She later saw the wounded man sitting by the laurel hedge in her garden. She had no idea and left him alone. Later that night her and her husband watched the news. After watching the news she realized how big of a deal it was and how scary it had been. She watched the news she forgot she was sitting in her safe house and was afraid. A Handful of Dates is a story about the boy, who feels that he is his grandfather's favourite grandchild because he knows when his grandfather wants him to laugh or be silent. One day, the boy's neighbour, Masood, asks if he would like to help him harvest his dates. The boy and his grandfather agree, but don't end up doing anything. The boy watches everyone else, and his grandfather falls asleep. Soon, some other people come divide dates leaves nothing for poor Masood even if the harvested dates were his to begin with. The boy's grandfather says that Masood is in debt to him, which is why he feels grateful to take whatever he wants. He then goes home knowing that his grandchild will follow. Instead the boy runs to the river, ignoring his grandfather's calls, and throws up the dates he had just eaten. All the stories include worded verse explores, among other things, illusion, memory, and transformation in different areas of human experience.

Gift


The gift is the story of the woman, Madame Delacour , who is very much fascinated towards the facts like death. She is a lady who was not interested in the facts like kids, food etc. She always engaged herself into the actions which were weird to avoid her boredom. She peeped into every one’s family and would imagine how death could affect them. She never bothered about her death but very much eager to find the things of interest like school students, bullying the people moving around. Her passion changed with the season. To get rid of these actions, a man got an idea to present wheel chair to her with a bell attached. Then he started imagining, how the diseased Madame could think of the others rather than her diseases. It clearly states the women inquisitive and enthusiasm in unnecessary things can lead to disastrous and ridiculous gift like a ‘wheel chair”.

Charity


As named charity, the story explains the women’s role in multitasking as a wife, she takes care of all his belongings, cleans house cooks the food to cherish him. Despite, all the sacrifices the men find the women to be good, but not satifsfactory. They always search for something beyond, and are more keen about the physical beauty of the women. Here the story of Harnold, who is a champion himself and counseled many women on physical beauty and personality development, he cannot accept his love as she is . He feels that he has done a great chariy by making her look beautiful by building the bosom. This story clearly expresses the men’s nature and cruel attitude hidden behind.

Dreams


The short story Dreams clearly visualizes the dream of every girl, ‘Wedding’. The night dreams of the lady, where she sees the groom and audiences sitting in the wheel chairs hanging from the blue sky gives us the vivid picture of the Dreams associated with this beautiful event. The story is carved so beautifully, t o show that she enjoys the every minute of her dream, right from the food to the groom, though it is absurd as felt by John. She differentiates all the gifts into categories, of impossible, possible. She can feel the degradation she is felling, when John ignores her dreams. They classify everything according to their affordability, but then she can experience the value given to her words. The ending of the story depicts her feelings, where she writes saying her preferences.

Shoes


Storm glass is a collection of stories related to perception, memory, and transformation; it includes an unusual five-story sequence about wheelchairs. The shoes explain the shards of glass reconcile a middle-aged wife to her husband's estrangement. The story starts with explaining the man’s nature, where he tries to lure and hurt the women’s feelings . In this context he tries drinking and balancing with his shoes. The wife watches his actions strangely and to her disguise, she understands the importance of dance and legs. She was sticked to the wheel chair and knows and understands the despairment she gets when her husband hangs out with other girls. The story says that she waits for him, although she knew he is not going to come, because every morning he is not seen. The story fairly brings out the women feeling and their humiliation by men. The story speaks about the women and their vain and humiliation associated with their lives. She experiences the despairment, when she was hospitalized and he totally stopped caring for her. All this tragic incidents has weaved a feeling of ruth and finally she consoles herself to death.
